Newborn Story Sessions in the Seattle Area

Newborn sessions are designed to capture the sleepy, small form of your baby. From simple color coordinated wraps to fun sets, it is an artistic way to immortalize the short newborn phase! This is designed mostly for newborns under six weeks (though preferably about 10-21 days old - the older they are the less sleepy they are, so you will likely have more awake photos). Sessions always include  immediate-family photos and the delivery of a curated full digital gallery within two-three weeks of the session. Pick the session that best fits your needs!

Baby is boss! It is expected that you will likely have to reschedule your newborn appointment to compensate for baby’s actual delivery date. So pick a date that makes sense with the expected delivery date and we will reschedule accordingly, if needed, when baby makes an appearance to still fit in that newborn window!

Newborn Safety

I am certified in newborn safety through the Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International (APNPI). Newborns are delicate, and every pose, wrap, and prop is chosen and adjusted with care to ensure they are always comfortable, secure, and supported. I have also personally navigated the newborn phase (twice!) and so know firsthand how intense those first few weeks can be - sleepless nights, endless feedings, spit-ups, and blowouts included. That lived experience helps me approach each session with empathy, patience, and care to meet your baby where they are and work with them to capture memories that last a lifetime.

My posing style is gentle, natural, and baby-led, inspired by the way your little one would instinctively rest on your chest, in your arms, or in the womb. I never force babies into uncomfortable positions - instead, I focus on poses that honor how they naturally curl, stretch, and settle when they feel secure. This approach not only keeps your baby safe, but it also creates images that feel genuine and timeless.

With a calm attitude, careful handling, and constant attention to your baby’s cues, you can feel confident that your newborn is in expert hands - and that their first portraits will reflect the beauty of who they truly are.

Because the newborn photography industry currently has no formal safety regulations, not every photographer is trained in safe handling techniques. Choosing a photographer with specific safety training can give you peace of mind. Planning Your Session

  • I completely understand feeling nervous about having your newborn photographed and that’s absolutely okay. My job is to gently guide your baby through the session and create images that beautifully capture their first weeks of life.

    As a mom of two, I know how unpredictable little ones can be. Please don’t feel stressed or embarrassed if things don’t go perfectly. Your baby may cry, resist certain poses, stay wide awake, or need extra cuddles, all of that is normal.

    During our session, I adapt fully to what your baby needs. We’ll keep them cozy with wraps, blankets, and a warm studio; use white noise and gentle vibration to soothe; swap props to match the positions they’re comfortable in; and take as many nursing, snuggle, or diaper breaks as needed.

    My top priorities are safety, comfort, and making the experience as stress-free as possible for both you and your baby. When babies are supported and parents feel relaxed, that’s when the most natural, beautiful images occur!

  • When scheduling a newborn session, it’s best to plan for the first six weeks of life, ideally when your baby is 10–21 days old. That said, the baby is always the boss, and they will arrive when they’re ready. To reserve your spot, simply choose a date close to your due date, and once your baby is born, we’ll adjust the session timing as needed.

    I also prefer to photograph babies who are at least one week old, so that you’ve had a little time to rest and your family has had a moment to adjust to life with your newest member.

    There are exceptions, of course - especially for premature babies (born before 37 weeks), whose timelines and needs are different.

    And if your baby is older than six weeks, don’t worry! You can absolutely still have a session. I offer childhood sessions that can capture newborn-like images with gentle posing.

  • You will receive your online gallery of images within three weeks of your session. Since all packages include the curated full gallery, you will be able to download all photos directly from the gallery.

    There are options to buy prints of any photos if you do desire and have them shipped to your house.

  • Your gallery is thoughtfully edited and intentionally selected to represent the very best of your session. I include all images that contribute to the story of your collection, ensuring that every photograph has purpose and adds value.

    Each session includes a guaranteed minimum number of images, and any additional photographs beyond that are included at no extra cost when they enhance your final gallery.

  • Payment is done through an online portal with a credit card. A 25% retainer (of the original session fee) is paid upfront, the rest of the payment is due the day of the session and the card on file will be charged.

    All pricing is transparent, and listed on the website. Sessions list the deliverables and the cost. Sales tax will be applied.

  • I completely understand that not every child feels excited about having their photo taken, and that’s okay! It’s my job to connect with your kids and help them participate in a way that feels natural and fun.

    As a mom of two, I know firsthand that little ones can be unpredictable, and I want you to know there’s no need to feel stressed or embarrassed if things don’t go perfectly.

    During our session, I’ll adjust to what works best for your child; we’ll play games, sing songs, explore different props, or even take a snack break (with your permission). The most important thing is that we make the experience fun and exciting, because that’s when the most genuine smiles and natural photos happen!

  • As photography is not something that most families do frequently, it is understandable that you are nervous! There is no need for concern. I will guide, prompt, and direct you and your family. I strive for session that authentically captures your family as best as possible, so there is no need be anything other than yourselves! I will prompt for natural-looking poses and capture candids throughout the session.

  • I have an extensive selection of newborn and infant props, from buckets, baskets, bathtubs, bowls, chairs, etc with lots of different backdrops. I have hundreds of headbands and hats for newborns. As well as, a large selection of outfits for newborns and infants up to a year. I am happy to work with any theme or color palette that you desire! I will reach out to you after you book your session to go over your vision and the details of your session to determine the props that I will be using. If you have any specific questions on props or themes, please feel free to reach out to me!

  • Please discuss with me if you have anything you want incorporated! I would suggest only bringing things of sentimental value. I would not recommend buying and bringing your own props as they may not have been designed or tested for safety for newborn photography. If there is anything that you are hoping for that you are unsure if I have, please do let me know! I have quite the extensive collection and would be happy to discuss your vision to see if I already have something or am willing to add to my collection!

  • My cozy studio is in Redmond, near Ames Lake, where you can have the session of your dreams! It is located at 27510 NE Quail Creek Dr, Redmond, WA 98053.

    My clients typically travel from all over the Greater Seattle Area, including but not limited to Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Bellevue, Kirkland, Duvall, Snoqualmie, North Bend, and beyond!
